When summer swoops in, it’s all about patios and BBQs. Especially here in Canada, summer is so short we need to celebrate every minute we can! But being a vegan can make it seem like your Barbecue-able options are limited. That’s why we’ve put together this list of foods to help you make an epic vegan BBQ. Start up the grills!
Seems like a simple go-to, but nothing beats a classic burger on a BBQ. The nice thing is nowadays there are so many burger companies you have lots to choose from! From Yves, to Beyond Meat, to PC, you can almost always find a satisfying vegan burger.
BBQ Stovetop Favourites
If you’re looking to change your vegan BBQ routine, try making something you’d usually cook on the stove on the BBQ! It cooks basically the same way, but adds a little bit of that yummy BBQ flavour!
During the summers, one of our healthy go-to options is making a stir-fry on a BBQ wok! The tofu just absorbs all the amazing flavours – it’s the best!
Thrown on Your Oven Meals
Just like the stove-top classics, you can also BBQ some of your oven-cooked favourites! Isn’t that the beauty of barbecuing!? You can cook ANYTHING!
We love to throw it back to childhood with this option. Ever had a Pita Pizza?? If not, you’re missing out! Super fast to make, and it gets so nice and crispy! Mmmm they’re amazing. It’s also a great option if you have lots of people over or simply have picky eaters – every person can customize their ‘za!
Nothing says “vegan BBQ” like a grill full of vegetable kabobs! They’re so bright and colourful they really pop! Plus, they’re a great way to get rid of extra veggies.
We like to prep them early so they can soak and marinade – it really ups the flavour. But if you need to whip them together quick, you can’t go wrong! They’re also a great option to bring camping and throw on the fire since they transport well.
Make some Mexican Street Corn
Last but DEFINITELY not least on this list – Mexican Street Corn. The BBQ gives it a nice charred flavour, and they simply ooze with flavour. Topped with a homemade sauce and some seasoning to give it a kick, you’ll never eat corn the same way again.
This is another we find is a hit with the crowds when we have a BBQ – there’s just so much going on you never want to stop eating.
We hope these recipe and food ideas inspire your next BBQ – we recommend cooking everything this way when it’s warm out, because why not?!
