We are coffee fiends. There’s nothing more refreshing than a warm cup of Joe in the morning… Or the afternoon… Or at night… And we must say, Merchants of Green makes a darn good cup!
Located in Toronto’s east end, Riverside, this cozy cafe is all about being green and fair trade. With at least 4 choices of ethically sourced coffee to drink there (and to bring home), it’s a beautiful spot to work and unwind.
It actually took me two tries to realize the building was ACTUALLY a coffee shop. Sitting right off the DVP and located in an old warehouse building it seemed too good to be true! How could there be a coffee shop so close? But it’s a real! And it’s always packed (for good reason).
About Merchants of Green
As we said earlier, this coffee is ethically sourced. All the coffee is fair-trade organic, and their Cafe Solar system (and coffee) promotes renewable systems, and providing employment for women in empoverished countries.
Green is in everything they do. They even filter your coffee through reusable coffee filters (we like to think this also makes them taste better).
Everything they make and sell is done by hand – from the baked goods to the packaging of beans. Even if most of the snacks aren’t vegan, we can’t help but go out of our way to support a green initiative that happens to make liquid gold.
So if you’re passing through Toronto’s east end, stop by Merchants of Green! And if you can’t? Then you’re in luck! You can actually buy their beans online! Talk about a win!
