Apple sauce is a multi-functional pantry item. Though commonly used as a side or dessert, it also makes for a great egg replacer in many baked goods, especially sweet items like cookies. It keeps your cakes and cookies moist, and has a natural sweetness.
You can easily make at home by boiling and mashing apples. If the skins are left on the apple sauce can take on a nice pink shade.
You can change the flavour of your apple sauce by using different varieties of apples, or mixing multiple together. Add different spices to your sauce to shake it up, or keep it simple and classic. The world is your orchard!
